Colleen Trevino named Assistant Director of Advanced Practice Providers

Colleen Trevino, MSN, PhDDec. 4, 2012 College News - Colleen Trevino, MSN, PhD, has been named Assistant Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) for Medical College Physicians (MCP), The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Adult practice, by Lee A. Biblo, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin. She will report to Julie Raaum, Director of APPs for MCP.  

Dr. Trevino has been a Nurse Practitioner with the Department of Surgery’s Division of Trauma and Critical Care for the last ten years. She completed her PhD in 2011, researching the transition of acute pain to chronic pain in the traumatically injured population and holds the title of Assistant Clinical Professor. Her previous nursing experience includes fifteen years at Froedtert Hospital in the inpatient trauma and acute care surgery unit and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.

The priorities identified for this new position include continued develop of a sustainable college wide APP orientation program, coordinating the credentialing process across MCW and FMLH, working with inpatient teams in developing and expanding APP practice models and developing a relevant OPPE (ongoing professional practice evaluation) and FPPE (focused professional practice evaluation) process for APPs that will elevate quality and improve process. Future goals for this position will include working towards the development of an Office of Advanced Practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin to support the increasing numbers of APP providers.
