Chairman's Message

The missions of the Department of Radiation Oncology are three fold: To provide highest quality care to all patients who seek treatment at any of our clinical sites, to educate future generations of physicians and physicists in the medicine and science of radiation oncology, and to perform cutting-edge clinical, translational, and laboratory research in radiation oncology with the goal of providing improved outcomes for patients.

Radiation Biology

The Medical College of Wisconsin Radiobiology Group is based in Radiation Oncology and has members in multiple other Departments. The major areas of work include developing ways to decrease the toxicity associated with the therapeutic use of radiation in cancer treatment; developing medical countermeasures to the types of late radiation injuries that could occur after a radiation accident or a radiological terrorism incident and assessing the risk of exposure to various types of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
