Wisconsin Researcher Sheds Light on Phototherapy

A story in the Wisconsin State Journal explores a new research program in which targeted blue lightwaves are used to kill staph infections. Chukuka Enwemeka, dean of UW-Milwaukee’s College of Health Sciences, is designing a device to deliver the light in targeted doses. Harry Whelan, MD, the Bleser Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics and Hyperbaric Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and a professor of neurology at MCW, is partnering on the project. Dr. Whelan has conducted significant research on the healing powers of different types of light.
