Patient Improvement Scores Improve When Whiteboards Identify Goals, Concerns

Today’s Hospitalist reports on a 2011 study in the American Journal of Medical Quality by Dr. Sid Singh (Medicine – Hospitalist) and MCW colleagues in which Press Ganey patient satisfaction scores improved when dry-erase boards were installed in patient rooms.  Various parts of the board were labeled as follows: physician, goals, testing, questions, top three concerns and home (for discharge date).  Clinicians, patients and families were all encouraged to use the boards.
