Faculty and staff contribute service to community boards

Jan. 15, 2014 College News - Twelve Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) faculty and staff members were recognized in the Business Journal’s “Partners in Philanthropy” issue for their service on the local boards of community organizations.  Published Nov. 22, 2013, “Partners in Philanthropy” highlighted non-profit organizations in the Greater Milwaukee Area and southeastern Wisconsin and their volunteers.

MCW faculty and staff noted in the issue include:

  • Stuart Berger, MD, serves on the board of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.  Dr. Berger is Professor and Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at MCW and the Leigh Gabrielle Herma Chair for Cardiology at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
  • Ulrich Broeckel, MD, serves on the board of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.  Dr. Broeckel is Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Individualized Medicine Institute at MCW, and Associate Director of the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Children’s Research Institute.
  • Jean Davis-Mallett, MBA, serves on the board of the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin.  Jean Davis-Mallett is a Recruiter and Program Coordinator in the Office of Student Affairs/Diversity.
  • Steven A. Harvey, MD, serves on the board of the Center for Communication, Hearing & Deafness.  Dr. Harvey is Associate Professor of Otolaryngology and Communication Sciences.
  • Joseph E. Kerschner, MD, FACS, serves on the board of the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Foundation.  Dr. Kerschner is Dean of the Medical School and Executive Vice President at MCW and Professor of Otolaryngology and Communication Sciences.
  • Robert Lane, MD, serves on the board of the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Foundation.  Dr. Lane is Chairman and Professor of Pediatrics at MCW, and Pediatrician-in-Chief and the Barri L. and David J. Drury Chair in Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
  • David Margolis, MD, serves on the board of the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center.  Dr. Margolis is Professor of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at MCW and Program Director of bone marrow transplant at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
  • Keith T. Oldham, MD, serves on the board of the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Foundation.  Dr. Oldham is Professor and Chief of Pediatric Surgery at MCW, and Surgeon-in-Chief and the Marie Z. Uihlein Chair in Pediatric Surgery at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
  • Shailendra Patel, MD, PhD, serves as president of the board of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Patel is Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology, Metabolism and Clinical Nutrition) at MCW.
  • John Raymond, Sr., MD, serves on the boards of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and United Way of Greater Milwaukee.  Dr. Raymond is President and CEO of MCW.
  • Christina L. Runge, PhD, serves on the board of the Center for Communication, Hearing & Deafness.  Dr. Runge is Associate Professor of Otolaryngology and Communication Sciences and Director of the Koss Cochlear Implant Program at MCW.
  • J. Frank Wilson, MD, FACR, FASTRO, serves on the board of the American Cancer Society.  Dr. Wilson is Chairman and the Bernard & Miriam Peck Family Professor in Radiation Oncology and Director Emeritus of the MCW Cancer Center.
