Dr. Silas Farmer, Professor Emeritus of Pathology, dies at age 88

Mar. 12, 2014 College News - Silas Glandie Farmer, PhD, Professor Emeritus of Pathology and a member of the MCW faculty from 1964 to 1991, died March 5 at age 88.

Dr. Farmer joined the MCW faculty in 1964 as an Assistant Professor of Pathology. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1971 and Professor in 1988. He retired from MCW in 1991, and received his Emeritus status in 1992. He also was on the faculty of the Marquette University School of Dentistry, where he taught Microbiology.

Dr. Farmer received his BS degree from Marquette University in 1951, where he also received his MS in 1957 and his PhD in 1962. He completed a pre-doctoral fellowship at the Marquette University School of Medicine (which later became the Medical College of Wisconsin) in 1962.

Dr. Farmer was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marion, and survived by his children, Sue Borth, Linda Farmer, and Rick Farmer, as well as seven grandchildren.
