Biotechnology and Bioengineering Center launches Visiting Faculty Program

Feb. 11, 2014 College News - The Biotechnology and Bioengineering Center has launched a Visiting Faculty Program that will bring exceptional researchers to the Medical College of Wisconsin for long-term visits. These visiting scholars will present seminars and establish collaborations with MCW faculty during their appointments.

The inaugural Visiting Faculty member in this program is Roy Smeal, PhD, Research Assistant Professor in Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Utah. Dr. Smeal’s research focuses on finding treatments for epilepsy. As part of his efforts, he examines large data sets generated by animal models to determine the best statistical analyses to use to exact usable data.

Dr. Smeal will give a seminar on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 12 p.m. in TBRC room C2195. The title of his presentation is, “Data Acquisition Techniques in Animal Models of Epilepsy: The double-edged nature of abundant data.”

Dr. Smeal will be in the BBC until July.
