Alternative transportation update
Dec. 26. 2013 College News - Thank you to everyone who has tried one of the new Alternative Transportation Programs now available. Word is getting out! Here are a few updates that have occurred since the launch of the programs:
Hundreds of new registrants have signed up for carpooling via WisDOT’s Ride Share, Etc. website. Go to www.rideshareetc.org to find other interested colleagues who may be looking to carpool. In January, designated carpool parking will roll out across campus. More information will be forthcoming.
Park & Ride Shuttle Service
The shuttle service from the State Fair and the new Burleigh Street Park & Ride has been operations for just over a month and has already delivered over 1,000 rides! As a reminder, two convenient Park & Ride shuttle routes have been arranged that service the MRMC campus and Research Park. They are:
State Fair Park & Ride (W. Adler St & 76th St)
Burleigh Street Park & Ride (Burleigh St & 114th Street)
Shuttles depart each location every 15 minutes between 6:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. in the morning and pick up riders for return trips in the afternoon between 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. The shuttles travel to/from several centralized locations on the MRMC campus and Research Park.
Many compliments have been received regarding the shuttle program. Thank you! And, in response to your concerns, the following improvements have been made:
Morning departures: Shuttle drivers have been reminded to follow the posted schedule for morning departures, and wait until those posted departure times before leaving.
Return trips: Shuttles will follow the mapped route and only stop at the designated locations. In an effort to provide the most efficient service as possible, drivers were trying to accommodate specific pick up time for the riders. This customized service was appreciated by some, but also left others with a longer wait for their return shuttle.
Color coding: To make it easier for you to identify your shuttle, signs will now be color coded: Green for Burleigh, Orange for State Fair.
For more information or to review the shuttle schedule, go to: http://www.mrmccampus.org/alternate-transportation. Every effort will be made to meet the shuttle schedule but please be aware that weather and traffic may affect arrival/departure times.
Washington County Commuter Express
In response to your request to have additional times added to the MRMC route, Washington County has announced a revised schedule that includes more morning arrivals and afternoon departures. Check it out at: http://www.mrmccampus.org/alternate-transportation.
