Selection of volunteers to community advisory boards underway

Leaders from each health system and academic institution partnering in the Medical College of Wisconsin’s (MCW) community medical education program are in the process of recommending one or two representatives from each organization to serve on a community advisory board in their region.

MCW is developing community advisory boards in both Central Wisconsin and Green Bay to assist the Medical College’s Dean of the Medical School and Executive Vice President and the respective community campus deans (when appointed) with the development and implementation of the local medical education programs.

The community advisory boards will assist program leaders with the development of community relationships and infrastructure, student recruitment and retention, monitoring of achievement of program goals, and enhancement of program visibility and support. Members will be apprised by the community campus deans of programmatic, financial and philanthropic updates relevant to their efforts. They will not be charged with fundraising.  Members of the community advisory boards and/or community faculty members will serve on MCW faculty committees—such as the Curriculum and Evaluation Committee—to ensure comparability of curricula.

Volunteers to the boards will represent health care and educational affiliates of the program, as well as representatives from the broader community including physician leaders, business, education institutions, government entities and/or civic organizations. The community representatives will be selected by the initial members of each community advisory board through a nomination process.
