Primary Care Foot Program

The Primary Care Foot Program takes a multi-disciplinary approach to foot and ankle care aimed at facilitating access for foot and ankle disorders, with special focus on the diabetic population.  Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants work in conjunction with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in providing quality non-operative care for common foot and ankle ailments in addition to ongoing education and preventative foot care.  Trained in Orthopaedics to treat a wide array of foot and ankle disorders, NPs and PAs travel to several clinic sites to provide comprehensive foot and ankle evaluation and organize a treatment plan that may consist of physical therapy, wound care, and/or facilitating orthotics/brace fabrication.  Diabetic care includes annual examination for diabetic foot care as well as nail, callus and wound care.  Each clinic location will also be outfitted with appropriate materials for splinting, bracing, nail and callus care.
