Eyes on the Future - Judy Kim, MD

Oct 10, 2014 - With the collaboration from our HWPP funded project “Telemedicine to Improve Eye Health among Latinos (TIEHL)” partners from the United Community Center and Marquette University, along with enthusiastic participation from the MCW Latino Student Interest Group and BGCS Middle school principal and children, we have been successful in submitting a video to the AAMC ProjectMED competition on ideas on improving diversity in medicine and science through working with community schools and children.

Sep. 20, 2012 College News - Hispanic Heritage Month is a time in which to learn, honor and pay tribute to the achievements of Hispanics throughout history. MCW posted video vignettes to highlight some of the Hispanic and Latino members of the MCW community and the contributions they have made.

Women’s History Month video vignette – Dr. Janice Burke

March 13, 2012 College News - In honor of Women’s History Month, the Medical College of Wisconsin has created a series of video vignettes and stories that will be posted on InfoScope during the month of March. The vignettes highlight some of our women faculty, staff and students and the contributions they have made.

In today’s video, Janice Burke, PhD, Marjorie & Joseph Heil Professor of Ophthalmology, talks about the importance of clinical colleagues to her work as a basic scientist in retinal research, and how fortunate MCW is to have a facility like the Eye Institute.

 

Black History Month video vignette – Kweku Grant-Acquah

Feb. 24, 2012 College News - In honor of Black History Month, the Medical College of Wisconsin has created a series of video vignettes and stories that will be posted on InfoScope during the month of February. The vignettes highlight a number of our African-American and Black faculty, staff and students, their experiences at MCW and the contributions they have made.

In today’s video, Ophthalmology resident Kweku Grant-Acquah talks about how seeing a need in his home town inspired him to think globally about community health.

 

Adaptive Optics

Unique adaptive optics provides the ability to visualize the cells of the human eye. Joseph Carroll, PhD and Kim Stepien, MD use adaptive optics at The Medical College of Wisconsin to see photoreceptors at a cellular level and identify cells involved in eye disease.
