Meet Our Fellows
Suad Khalil, PGY-3:
Dr. Khalil joins us this year after completing her Pediatrics Training at Michigan State University- Sparrow Health System. Hearing a lot about the great experiences people gain in MCW made me excited to know more about fellowship programs here. As I am basically interested in neurology I felt that being here would allow me to improve my experience on both aspects; clinical and research. To have the opportunity to meet all kinds or areas in this field and to be strongly connected to each patient we meet represents a great motivation to work more and more each and every day. I am glad to join MCW team, and I totally feel like home here.
Danielle T. Miller, PGY-3:
"Though I am originally from Michigan I am excited now call Milwaukee, "Home." I find the field of Neurology fascinating in general but am drawn to Child Neurology for many reasons. I love the child neuro exam. Kids can be challenging to examine but with the right tools, tricks and games they will tell you everything you need to know to distill a complicated history and physical exam to a clinical impression. My current topics of interest include seizures, neurologic malignancy, developmental delay and movement disorders. I look forward to learning more in these areas from both the experience faculty and diversity patient population that the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin serves.
Matthew Harmelink, PGY-4:
"Having attended medical school here in Milwaukee but residency elsewhere, I decided to come back for my fellowship as both the adult and pediatric neurology training is excellent. The opportunities here in research both clinical and bench, as well as the exposure to rare fields such as a premier interventional neurology department, a strong neuropsychology department and a dedicated EMU service amongst others is great for your training. In addition, while the faculty has strong depth and a very rapidly expanding breadth, as fellows we maintain strong exposure to all areas of the field with our own patient population."
Kumar Sannagowdara, PGY-4:
"Welcome! You are choosing an exciting place which offers structured training along with research opportunities in the field of pediatric neurology apart from recognition and highly desirable family environment. We have appropriate life and work balance with wide spectrum of cases ,which will enable us to become well rounded and confident neurologist"
Akshat Katyayan, PGY-5:
"Welcome to Child Neurology and MCW! You have chosen an exciting field in Medicine and MCW is a great place to pursue that training. The patient pathology we see is amazing, the educational aspect of which is only enhanced by our supportive faculty. We are busy but not overworked. Our relationship with our adult Neurology colleagues is very cordial and educational. Milwaukee is an underrated but exciting city, which has something both for single professionals (East Side and The Third Ward) and families (Tosa and Brookfield)"
Venu Parachuri, PGY-5:
"MCW was my first choice for Neurology training as I was impressed by the diversity of patient population and the supportive faculty. The collegial relationship with the Adult Neurology department is outstanding and should be kept in mind when you are looking at other places. Not only are we a clinically strong program, there is great emphasis on research as well. Last year alone, the Pediatric Neurology trainees, as a group, have published 2 articles in reputed journals, apart from many other individual publications."
