 Program at a Glance

Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is located in Milwaukee, a city on the shores of Lake Michigan with a metropolitan area of approximately 1.3 million people. MCW is affiliated with Froedtert Hospital, a 785-bed tertiary referral center. Residents also rotate at adjoined Childrens Hospital of Wisconsin and nearby Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center.

MCW Neurology program has achieved a five-year accreditation at the last ACGME review in February 2011. For applications to the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Neurology, we do have a few requirements. We will not print or act upon any application unless the following documents are available: 3 letters of recommendation, CV, Personal Statement, USMLE scores (US - step 1, IMG Step 1-2-3). We do not have specific score requirements on the USMLE. The Medical College of Wisconsin, Department of Neurology sponsors J1 and H1b visa.

  • Additional combined Internal Medicine-Neurology position
  • Integrated PGY-1 year in preliminary medicine
  • General Neurology resident continuity clinic all four years

 Educational Opportunities
  • Board reviews series – a rotating 18-month block lecture series covering board relevant material with each block ending with a self-assessment quiz and journal club.
  • Core didactic lecture series – a rotating 12-month block lecture series covering the fundamentals of neurology including neuro emergencies, neurocritical care, stroke and vascular anatomy, cranial nerve anatomy, EMG and neuropathology of muscle and nerve, EEG and neuroanatomy of cortex, autonomic testing and pain management. Each block also ends with a self-assessment quiz.
  • Clinic Case Conferences – a weekly case-based conference led by faculty covering the basics of outpatient neurology
  • Weekly Multidisciplinary Epilepsy Conference
  • Weekly Multidisciplinary Brain Tumor Board
  • Weekly Vascular Neurology Conference
  • Weekly Movement Disorder Conference
