The Bobbie Nick Voss Laboratory for Cancer Research in the Tumor Progression and Metastasis Research Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center invites applications for a postdoctoral candidate. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with research and technical expertise in cellular and molecular biology as well as preclinical models, and with superior communication skills to lead translational research projects aimed broadly at understanding the pathophysiologic mechanisms of cancer invasion and metastasis.
The successful applicant will be adept at using 2D and 3D cell culture systems as well as preclinical models to investigate the cellular, biochemical, and metabolic signaling pathways that regulate cellular motility in inflammation and cancer. The candidate will also complete pharmacokinetic / pharmacodynamic and potency / efficacy studies following treatment with small molecule or biologic compounds. The translational research will be interdisciplinary and include a number of the following aspects: molecular cloning, cell culture, biochemical assays and signal processing, histopathology, flow cytometry, and small animal imaging and handling.
The ideal candidate will have a recent PhD in Biochemistry, Cell / Molecular Biology, or Immunology or an advanced degree in a related field of study. Preference will be given to those applicants with documented practical experience in tumor progression and metastasis including studies of energy metabolism, tumor inflammation / immunology, the tumor microenvironment, chemokine/cytokine biology and/or G protein coupled receptor signaling. Applicant will present scientific results in project and departmental meetings, as well as national and international conferences, as well as high-impact scientific publications, and will communicate with the rest of the team in project meetings, journal clubs, and funding agency documentation. The applicant should enjoy providing practical and theoretical training for doctoral and medical student members of the research team and promote scientific collaboration within the research group.
