Military Traumatic Brain Injury Display at Todd Wehr Library
Nov. 9, 2013 - A Military Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) display has been set up in the south display case near the entrance to the Todd Wehr Library in conjunction with the College observance of Joining Forces Wellness Week November 11-15.
On November 12, 2004, during a convoy mission, Kenneth Lee, MD, was severely injured in a Baghdad car bombing. The display tells Dr. Lee’s story through photographs, his description of what happened, and a reflection on his difficult and inspiring road to recovery. Dr. Kenneth Lee is the Chief of the Spinal Cord Injury Division (SCI) at the Clement J. Zablocki (Milwaukee) VA Medical Center and Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Lee joined the Army in 1986 and currently holds the rank of Colonel in the Wisconsin Army National Guard with the duty assignment of State Surgeon. He received his MD degree from the College in 1993.
The display also includes information about the important services provided by the Milwaukee VA Medical Center Polytrauma Support Clinic Team to screen and support our returning veterans. The mission of the team is to promote resilience, recovery, and reintegration. Two of the team members provided information for the display:
