“The MCW Dean’s Diversity Advisory Committee is dedicated to developing an institutional culture that fosters the recruitment, nurturing and retention of a diverse student body, trainees, staff and faculty that is reflective of our larger community.”
The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at The Medical College of Wisconsin is a place where questions are probed everyday from all angles. Inherent to successful daily functions is a commitment to diversity. Students enrolled in our graduate programs become members of an international community that train future scientists with the skill sets necessary to appreciate and negotiate differences on a global scale. Achieving this status and affecting real change starts with a commitment to promote diversity.
The Dean of the Graduate School is an active member on the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee to the President of the College, the Chairman of the Dean's Diversity Committee for the Graduate School and actively involved in the success of the Underrepresented Scholars in Biomedical Research (USBR). In pursuit of the goal to increase the number of diverse scholars on campus the Dean of the Graduate School promotes participation in student outreach and undergraduate research programs. All graduate level academic programs have been represented at conferences, graduate school and national fairs across the country. Faculty, students and staff have attended diversity fairs that include Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS), and Ronald E. McNair National Conference.
