Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence

What does it mean to be a Bariatric Surgery “Center of Excellence”?

The objective of the national Centers of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery Program is to promote high quality surgical care for the bariatric patient. In order to become and maintain accreditation as a center of excellence, bariatric programs must:

  • Be multidisciplinary with providers from multiple specialties including bariatric surgery, psychiatry, anesthesia, and nutrition among others.
  • Adhere to consistent and evidence-based bariatric care pathways.
  • Utilize equipment and facilities that are appropriate to care for the bariatric population.
  • Meet a certain minimum annual volume of bariatric procedures performed.
  • Demonstrate good long term outcomes.

Our three bariatric surgeons (Dr. Matthew Goldblatt, Dr. Jon Gould, and Dr. James Wallace) have a combined experience of more than 30 years in bariatric surgery and more than 4,000 bariatric cases. Visit the Centers of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery Program Web site for more information.
