2/15/2014 eBridge Production Patch
Effective February 15, 2014, several enhancements, updates, and/or changes were made in the eBridge production patch. Please select the eBridge modules you are interested in reviewing:
New NIH Salary Cap
In accordance with the recent Executive Order 13655, the Executive Level II pay scale cap has increased 1% from $179,700 to $181,500. This salary cap is utilized by the NIH and some other federal agencies, and will be applied to awards issued on or after January 12, 2014. The new cap will be available for proposals in eBridge after the February 15, 2014 production patch. Projects with an award date on or before January 11, 2014 will continue to apply the $179,700 cap. Projects with an award date on or after January 12, 2014, including all new applications submitted after February 15, 2014, are subject to the Executive Level II salary cap of $181,500.
On or after February 16, 2014, you can apply this revised cap in eBridge if your Funding Proposal is in an editable state (e.g., Presubmission, Changes Requested). To do so, please go to Page W of the budget and select "Save". This activates the recalculation of all amounts on Page W and will automatically update your budget. You may then need to adjust your other budget pages. If your budget is in an uneditable state (e.g. Pending Sponsor Decision), you will be able to apply the revised cap during Reconciliation. If you are creating a new federal, federal pass-through or AHW budget on or after February 16, 2014, no additional action will be necessary to implement the revised cap because eBridge will default to the revised cap. Modified Jump-To Menu
The Jump-To menu has been redesigned to complement the Version 3 SmartForm questions and to use current terminology; referring to “projects” of all types rather than clinical drug trial “studies” and “subjects” rather than “participants”. Most notably, the Section names have been shortened and changed to be more specific to the content within each section.
Text Change to PRO SmartForm Question 3.1.3
Question 3.1.3 is no longer a sub-question of 3.1.2 but now a separate question.
New Notification When the PI Submits a Project
We previously added a function that allows project team members to notify the PI when a project was ready for submission. We received feedback that you would like to be notified when the PI has submitted the project.
We have repurposed an existing email that is sent to Project Team Members who are added to new projects in eBridge. We added a statement in this email to indicate that the PI has submitted this new project. This updated email alleviates the need to go back into eBridge and check to see if the PI has submitted the project.
Date Modified Column Removed
The “Date Modified” column under the Human Submissions tab in eBridge was not useful information for study teams.
We have removed the "Date Modified" column from all tabs on the Humans Submissions, Amendments, Continuing Progress Reports and Reportable Events project lists.
Display of Project Title Added to Upper Right Corner for AMEs/CPRs
When working on multiple Amendment or CPR submissions in eBridge, it can be difficult to tell which project the submission belongs to from within the SmartForm.
We have added the project title to display above the AME/CPR ID in the upper right corner of the SmartForm.
Change in Breadcrumb to Distinguish Between Project and CPR
Navigating using the breadcrumb is not useful when the project title is repeated twice; first for the project (PRO SmartForm) and second for the open CPR submission.
We have changed the breadcrumb for the CPR to display "Continuing Progress Report for [PRO ID number displayed here]" so you can differentiate between the PRO workspace and the CPR workspace in the breadcrumb.
Example: Human Submissions > Project Title > Continuing Progress Report for PRO000XXXXX
If you use a Biosafety Cabinet, you will select its type in Section D, Part II, Question 2.0. Upon selecting Add, a pop-up appears. Question 2.0 asks you to Select the Biosafety Cabinet that you will be using in this location. You click on the Select button and a list of possible cabinets appears for that location in the laboratory or storage facility. This list was not all-inclusive and many people were not finding their specific Biosafety Cabinet.
On February 15, the new choice of Other is available when the Biosafety Cabinet you are using cannot be found on the list. If you select Other, you have to complete the information about it in the subsequent questions. The Other option is found on the last page of the chooser, all the way at the bottom.
