Identified Institutional Strengths and Areas of Interest

The workgroup identified selected areas of strengths and interests from each partnering institution:

  • sharing expertise in lean management, six sigma, and change management
  • leveraging expertise in supply chain management
  • replicating successful chronic disease management program to other chronic diseases
  • expanding patient outcomes database project studying nursing care and patient outcomes to other research areas
  • working with interdisciplinary health service providers broadly defined that focus on preventive services and outcomes research as well as obesity, health care ethics and health communication

Health Programs and Interdisciplinary Health

Employee Health Programs Workgroup

  • Developing plan to reduce costs and improve health for employees with Type 2 diabetes across interested CHEI partner institutions, including identification of short and long-term goals, roles and potential funding opportunities.

Interdisciplinary Approaches to Health Services

  • Based on conversations with faculty from diverse disciplines, the initiative will study the economic impact of different quality improvement efforts to improve health. A conference or workshop will be developed to further the exchange of ideas and research interests in this area among CHEI partnering institutions, especially among the nursing leaders of the CHEI partnering institutions. The plan is to have a conference in the spring. Multidisciplinary academic and delivery system collaborations exploring the intersection of quality and costs of care.
