Cancer Center Board honors MACC Fund for reaching $50 million research support milestone

Sept. 26 - On Wednesday, Sept. 24, the MCW Cancer Center Board of Directors honored The MACC Fund, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc., for reaching the $50 million milestone earlier this summer for childhood cancer and blood disorder research support.

MACC Fund offers ways to support pediatric cancer research this fall

Sept. 23 - The MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc.) has events this fall to raise money for pediatric cancer and related blood disorder research. The MACC Fund raises 75% of its annual income from special events, and is the Medical College of Wisconsin’s (MCW) largest donor.

Pins for Patients Bowling Tournament on Oct. 12 to benefit MCW Cancer Center

Sept. 04 - “Pins for Patients,” a new bowling fundraiser organized by members of the MCW Clinical Trials Office, will be held Sunday, Oct. 12, at the New Berlin Ale House. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center for cancer research as well as to Kathy's House, which provides lodging for families and patients undergoing life-saving medical treatments.

Get Your Rear in Gear run/walk for colon cancer prevention & research to be held Oct. 11

Ballet Performance to Benefit Cancer Center

Aug. 22 - This Sunday, August 24, the Telugu Association of Greater Milwaukee will present Godha Kalyanam in the Kuchipudi Dance Ballet at 11 a.m. the Hindu Temple of Wisconsin in Pewaukee. Proceeds will benefit Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center. The performance is open to the public.

$50 million MACC Fund milestone for research support

June 30 -The MACC Fund, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc., will contribute $1.2 million on June 30 to its three beneficiaries, the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. These research contributions will take the total of the MACC Fund’s contributions since its inception in 1976 to over $50 million.

Sam Memorial Golf Outing to benefit MCW pediatric cancer research

Rock concert on May 10 to benefit MCW cancer research

April 22 - On Saturday, May 10, Shattered, a Rolling Stones tribute band, and Substitute, a tribute to The Who, will perform in a concert to benefit cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Tickets are $10, payable at the door the night of the event. Guests must be 21 years of age or older or accompanied by a legal guardian. The concert will take place at Shank Hall in Milwaukee.

Inspirational 10-year-old's donation to the MCW Cancer Center

March 19 - Jacob Sharp is not your ordinary 10-year-old boy. Not only does this Cub Scout give his extra birthday money to help other kids in need, but on Friday, Feb. 28, Jacob and his family arrived at the MCW Cancer Center with a check to support cancer research. “To remember my grandpa, I wanted to do something to make a difference and help other people facing cancer,” said Jacob.

Wearable Art Show in Cedarburg to benefit MCW breast cancer research

Mar. 06 - The 17th Wearable Art Show, organized by the Cedarburg Junior Woman's Club, will be held March 28 and 29 at the Cedarburg Cultural Center, W62 N546 Washington Avenue, Cedarburg. All of the events are open to the public. Proceeds benefit breast cancer education, prevention, research and treatment. To date, this organization has donated $18,500 for breast cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center.

Feb. 25 - Guests of Bergstrom Automotive in Appleton, Wis., had the opportunity this summer to raise money for breast cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin while test driving some unique vehicles. Bergstrom’s annual Drive for a Cure set a record for funds raised in 2013, contributing nearly $56,000 to the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center.

Cancer patient, family form Triumph Fund to help MCW expand cancer clinical trials

Feb. 18 - It didn’t take long for John Hovel to transition from cancer patient to cancer research advocate as his health improved through treatment at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW).
