Oct. 23 - Bin Ren, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine (hematology and oncology) at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), has been elected a 2014 Fellow of the American Heart Association affiliated with the Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology.
Aug. 21 - A collaborative team of researchers from the Blood Research Institute at BloodCenter of Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin has received a one-year, $50,000 grant from the Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin to study accurate and timely diagnosis of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia and thrombosis.
June 24 - Milwaukee was selected as the site for the 60th annual meeting of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis because of the quality of research work conducted by MCW and the BloodCenter of Wisconsin. Milwaukee Biz Times
June 11 - The 13th annual Sam Memorial Golf Outing is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, at the Scenic View Country Club, 4415 Club Drive, Slinger. This tournament is held in memory of Sam Beres, who lost his battle with leukemia in April 2000, at the age of six.

Mar. 25 - Mary Horowitz, MD, MS, the Robert A. Uihlein, Jr. Chair in Hematologic Research, Professor of Medicine and Chief of Hematology and Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), was presented with the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT) at the organization’s annual meeting.
Dr. Linda Resar, a faculty member at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, has been studying high mobility group genes for two decades. Her passion for research began nearly 30 years ago at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Mar. 05 - By virtue of a unanimous decision from the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT) Executive Committee, Mary Horowitz, MD, MS, was presented with the 2014 ASBMT Lifetime Achievement Award during the ASBMT Awards and Business Meeting on Feb. 28, 2014. Dr. Horowitz is the Robert A. Uihlein, Jr. Chair in Hematologic Research, Professor of Medicine and Chief of Hematology and Oncology. She serves as Chief Scientific Director of the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR).
